ESO DPS Calculator — compare builds and swaps (beta)
Put any build from the build editor on a target dummy and see which skills carry the damage, then try a set or skill swap and get the percent change. It also runs a healer test and a 1v1 duel under Battle Spirit. Everything runs in your browser, and the link carries the whole setup.
Full DPS numbers are switched off while we calibrate against real dummy parses — the comparisons below are the part that's accurate today.
beta — directional only Use it to compare two versions of your build, not to predict your parse. Full numbers come back only when every calibrated spec is within 15% of real dummy parses.

How the simulator works
- Time moves in 0.1-second steps. One skill per 1-second global cooldown (longer for cast-time skills), one light attack woven per cooldown if you leave weaving on, and a heavy attack when nothing is affordable.
- Skill numbers come from the game's own formulas. Each tooltip is rebuilt from max resource and weapon or spell damage. Checked against 600 tooltips: median error 0.03%, 99.7% within 2%.
- Priority: ultimate when full, then any damage-over-time or area skill that has run out, then your strongest spammable.
- Crits count as their average by default. Tick "Random crits" to roll them with a seed you choose; the same seed always gives the same fight.
- Damage procs from your sets fire on hits, limited by each set's cooldown.
- Group buffs (Major and Minor Sorcery, Brutality, Force, Breach, Berserk, Slayer, Vulnerability) are applied at the share of time they were up in real trial logs, not at 100%.
- Healer test: five players share one health pool that takes steady damage plus a spike every 10 seconds. You see healing per second, how much of it landed, and how much was overheal.
- PvP 1v1: both builds fight at once with Battle Spirit applied and real resource costs. A block toggle cuts the opponent's damage taken by a set amount.
Calibration against real logs beta — directional only
We ran the three most-logged damage specs through the simulator on our stamina starter gear with the skills those players actually slot most. We then compared the result to the median damage per second in public ESO Logs trial fights. Largest gap: 89.1%. Anything over 25% gets the beta label; full numbers stay off until the largest gap is 15% or less.
| Spec | Logged fights | Log median DPS | Gap | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arcanist Stamina DPS | 5,994 | 93,648 | -88.5% | run it |
| Necromancer Stamina DPS | 3,994 | 128,637 | -87.7% | run it |
| DragonKnight Stamina DPS | 1,316 | 80,901 | -89.1% | run it |
Why the gap is this big, in order of size: trial fights often hit several enemies at once while the simulator hits one. Skill passives, Champion Point damage bonuses and self-buffs are not in yet. Pets and second hits are listed as not modelled on every run. Source: ESO Logs, Update 50, 16943 rows, built 2026-07-23, calibration run 2026-09-30.
What the numbers leave out
Some numbers the game uses are not in our data: your base stats before gear, weapon base damage, and how recovery ticks. We use stated defaults for those, and you can change every one under "Edit the assumptions". Each run lists its assumptions and what it did not model right next to the result. When a skill has no formula data, it is named instead of guessed.
