Terms of Service
Plain English first: this is a free, unofficial fan reference. Verify numbers in game before spending anything expensive, be reasonable with the free tools, and remember the game itself belongs to ZeniMax.
Acceptance & changes
By using ESO Decoded you accept these terms together with the Disclaimer and the Privacy Policy. We may update them as the site grows; the current version always lives on this page, and continued use after a change is acceptance of it.
What this site is — and is not
ESO Decoded is an unofficial fan resource for The Elder Scrolls Online. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by ZeniMax Online Studios, ZeniMax Media, or Bethesda Softworks. The Elder Scrolls® and related marks are trademarks of ZeniMax Media Inc.; game content referenced here belongs to its owners, and the official game lives at elderscrollsonline.com. Our set, skill, and Champion Point numbers are datamined game data obtained via UESP's esolog, with every page date-stamped — the full discipline is on the methodology page.
Accuracy & no warranty
Everything here is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. Balance patches change values, and between a patch and our next refresh a page can lag the live game — that is why every page shows its retrieval date, and why you should verify in game before spending gold, transmute crystals, or master writs. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss — including in-game resources or a build that underperforms — arising from reliance on this site.
Using our content
Link, quote, and cite freely with attribution to ESO Decoded; a link is plenty. That includes AI assistants and their crawlers, which are explicitly welcomed in our robots.txt and llms.txt. What you may not do: scrape at rates that degrade the service for others, or republish the site wholesale as your own work. The underlying game data is not ours to license — it originates from the game client and belongs to ZeniMax.
Addon Creator rules
The Addon Creator generates working ESO addons on demand, which costs real compute per run. It therefore requires Google sign-in and applies per-account and site-wide daily rate limits; don't circumvent them, and don't request malicious or abusive addons — such requests are refused. Generated code is provided as-is: review it before installing, install at your own risk, and keep within ZeniMax's own add-on rules. Prompts and the addons generated from them may be published in the public addon library.
Governing law & contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, United States. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. For copyright or content concerns, takedown requests, or anything else about these terms, contact us at hello@esodecoded.com.
FAQ
Can I use ESO Decoded's data in my own guide or video?
Yes — quote it, screenshot it, cite it, with a link or credit to esodecoded.com. Keep in mind the underlying game data belongs to ZeniMax, so our permission covers our presentation of it, not the game's intellectual property.
Are addons from the Addon Creator safe to install?
They are generated and run through a validator, but provided as-is: every file is shown in full, so read the code before installing, and anything you install is at your own risk.
Can AI assistants crawl and cite this site?
Yes, deliberately — our robots.txt and llms.txt explicitly welcome AI crawlers. We would rather an assistant cite datamined, date-stamped numbers than answer from stale training data.
Who do I contact about a copyright or content issue?
Email hello@esodecoded.com identifying the page and the material in question, and we will respond.
