ESO Glossary & Slash Commands
Every acronym and /command people throw around, in plain English. Type to filter.
Champion Points — the account-wide progression system after level 50. Spendable cap 3,600.
Damage Per Second — also slang for a damage-dealer role.
Healing Per Second.
Light Attack / Heavy Attack — the basic weapon hits you weave between abilities.
Slipping a light attack in between each ability — a big chunk of your damage.
Cutting an ability's animation with a light attack or bar-swap to act faster.
Damage-over-Time / Heal-over-Time effect.
Area-of-Effect / Single-Target.
An effect that triggers ('procs') from a condition — e.g. a set's bonus firing.
Penetration — ignores enemy resistance. Has a soft cap most builds aim for.
Best in Slot — the optimal item for a slot for a given build.
A test of your damage on a target dummy, usually via a combat-meter add-on (PC).
Hard Mode — a tougher optional version of a dungeon or trial fight.
A 12-player raid (e.g. Cloudrest, Sunspire).
Veteran Maelstrom / Dragonstar Arena — solo & group veteran arenas.
Pick-Up Group — a group of randoms via the group finder.
Magicka / Stamina — your two main resource pools and build types.
A mythic ring that grants many buffs but locks you to one weapon bar.
Replacing up to two of your three class skill lines with other classes' lines (Update 46+).
A Mundus Stone — a permanent buff (e.g. The Thief, The Shadow) you choose in the world.
The dungeon-runner guild; its daily pledges reward keys for monster sets.
Daily crafting tasks; master writs are rarer and reward valuable vouchers.
Crystals used to change an item's trait (or, via reconstruction, recreate a known set).
Cyrodiil / Imperial City — the large PvP zones.
Alliance vs Alliance — ESO's player-vs-player content.
ZeniMax Online Studios — the developer.
Random Number Generator — i.e. luck-based drops.
Slash command: shows total time played on the character.
Slash command: starts a ready check for your group (used before pulls).
Slash command: opens the in-game bug report form.
Slash command: frees a character stuck in the world (teleports you).
Slash command: reloads the UI and add-ons without logging out (PC).
Slash command: /invite <name> sends a group invite.
Slash command: opens or messages your group (/g also messages group chat).
Slash command: invite a player to a guild you can recruit for.
Slash command: log out to character select with the campfire timer.
Slash command: flag yourself away-from-keyboard.
