How class sets work

Class sets are ESO's newest set category, introduced with Update 40 in late 2023 and doubled to two per class in Update 41. Unlike every other 5-piece in the game, each 5-piece bonus is written around one class's toolkit — sometimes an explicit skill-line trigger (“Casting an Earthen Heart ability…”, “Dealing damage with a Storm Calling ability…”), sometimes a signature mechanic like consuming a corpse, generating Crux, or keeping a permanent pet alive.

The 2-, 3- and 4-piece lines are ordinary stats and work on any character; the 5-piece only fires if your build actually uses what the text names. We quote that trigger text exactly as datamined on every set page, so read it before you spend Archival Fortunes — and since Update 46 added subclassing, the skill lines a character has are no longer fixed by class, which makes the exact wording worth checking rather than assuming “not my class, not my set.”

Acquisition is one place only: the Infinite Archive — all 14 sets list it as their sole source in the datamine. Every one of them covers the full slot range (all three armor weights, weapons, shield, and jewelry), so a class set can sit on your body, your jewelry + weapons, or split across both. Cross-check against UESP's class-set overview — the same community datamine our numbers come from.

FAQ

Can any class wear a class set?

Any character can equip one and get the small 2–4-piece stat lines. The 5-piece bonus is what you farm it for, and it only fires off what its text names — a specific skill line or class mechanic — so off-class it usually does nothing. Read the exact trigger text on the set's page before farming.

Where do class sets drop?

Only the Infinite Archive. Every class set in the current datamine lists it as its sole source; runs drop pieces for the class you're playing, and pieces can also be bought with Archival Fortunes, the Archive's currency.

How many class sets are there?

14 — two per class. The first wave arrived with Update 40 alongside the Infinite Archive, and Update 41 added the second.

Do class sets have perfected versions?

No. None of the 14 class sets has a perfected variant in the datamined data — what drops is the full-strength version.
